The Senior Credit Risk Research Analyst-Bank Portfolio is responsible for gathering, organizing, analyzing, and presenting results in order to evaluate credit risk associated with the Bank’s investment portfolio and derivatives activities. Acts as the primary liaison between Credit Policy and the Treasury group.

Major Duties

  1. Performs complex financial and credit analysis using publicly available information, integrating conclusions with outside opinions and rating agency data. Recommends suitability of securities for Bank’s investment portfolio with concurrence of Credit Policy and ALCO. 
  2. Monitors and reports investment portfolio and derivative exposures against limits. Immediately notifies Treasury and Credit Policy of any investments that require review for sale.
  3. Performs pre-purchase credit analysis on all securitizations and recommends changes to credit stress analysis as needed.
  4. Recommends new (or changes to) investment and derivative limits and coordinates formal submission through credit committee approval process. 
  5. Ensures that issuers and industry sectors are reviewed, analyzed, and documented on a timely basis.
  6. Recommends approvals to Credit Policy for counterparty exposures on Interest Rate Swap Guidelines, Deposit Guidelines, and Unsettled Security Guidelines. Updates counterparty limits and ratings. 
  7. Report all unsettled trades at month end. 
  8. Reviews CECL analysis, confirming findings with Credit Policy and Accounting Policy. 
  9. Manages ratings process for all securities in Treasury investment portfolio to fulfill Advanced Internal Ratings-Based (AIRB) and Simplified Supervisory Formula (SSFA) requirements and coordinate proper asset categorization with Credit Policy
  10. Prepares and presents regular reporting for Credit Policy, ALCO, and Counterparty Risk as mandated by those committees.
  11. Provides comprehensive, in-depth consulting and leadership to team and partners at the highest technical level.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Minimum six or more years of fixed income securities or credit related financial analysis experience. 
  • Experience analyzing various fixed income securities with a focus on securitized products and/or corporate credit.
  • Knowledge of business and financial markets and ability to evaluate credit risk in debt instruments.
  • Understanding of economic conditions and their impact on the holdings in the investment portfolio. 
  • Ability to comprehend standard legal matters related to structured debt instruments, usually acquired through formal education and work experience. 
  • Operates independently; has in-depth knowledge of business unit/function. 
  • Analytical and presentation skills are required to interpret offering statements and legal documents. 
  • Computer skills are required to gather and present information.
