This position is primarily responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of financial services including but not limited to financial management, accounting and reporting in accordance with the agreed service levels.
Role
Lead and manage the Finance team by providing effective and efficient financial services to realise the vision of the organisation as strategic partner and effective shared services provider.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Plan and coordinate the preparation of interim and annual financial statements for the organisation(s) in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and statutory requirements, within the required deadlines.
- Oversee the preparation of periodic management reports by providing insightful analysis on the financial position and performance of the organisation(s) to support the decision needs of the stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements including financial reporting standards, audit, income tax, withholding tax and SST.
- Oversee monthly bank reconciliation and ensure outstanding items are promptly investigated and resolved.
- Manage and forecast cash flow requirements in accordance with the respective funding and utilisation plans.
- Review and develop budgetary policies and procedures to achieve effective control and compliance in line with financial discipline and prudence.
- Oversee and lead annual budget planning and interim budget review in consultation with Management and business divisions.
- Manage and review all financial plans and budgets, monitor progress and changes, and keep management abreast of the financial position and performance.
- Monitor cash receipts and financial obligations to ensure positive cashflows which is imperative to maintaining sustainable operations.
- Plan strategic investment of cash surplus to drive stronger interest income.
- Timely preparation and filing of corporate tax, including withholding tax or such other taxes which may be introduced by the Malaysian authorities in the future.
- Develop and implement tax strategies and policies that help businesses maintain compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
- Implement tax planning to identify opportunities for process improvement and optimisation in company tax procedures.
- Manage and facilitate tax audit by preparing responses and creating schedules.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law development, create strategies to capitalise on the changes and communicate the effects of these developments to Management and Stakeholders.
- Maintain financial accounting system and implement the necessary control to protect data integrity including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and capital expenditure.
- Coach and provide guidance in identifying the training and development needs of the team in order to create a highly capable work force in achieving the mission of the organisation(s).
- Multi-task and work closely with clients and divisions to achieve common goals of the organisation(s)
- Partake in clients' Business Plan activities and Management Meetings

- Review and simultaneously responsible for the accuracy of meeting materials.
- Ensure high quality and integrity of financial reporting.
- Provide advisory services to clients on finance-related matters to support the business needs of the organisation(s).
- Review, improve and implement all necessary financial policies and procedure manuals.
- Liaise with the IRD, Customs, internal & external auditors and relevant committees of the Board/Council as and when appropriate.
- Ensure effective communication and presentation of critical financial matters to Management and Council members/Board of Directors.
- Perform any additional tasks as and when the need arises.
- Reliable support systems in providing accurate and timely financial data to enable financial and management reporting.
- Balancing the needs between providing useful information and meeting disclosure requirements of financial reporting standards.
- Providing reasonable estimate and forward-looking forecast about the organisation's financial position and performance in facilitating Management's strategy formulation and decision making.
- Ability to establish relationships, networks and partnerships with stakeholders to ensure efficiency and cooperation at a higher level.
- Ability to work under pressure in meeting strict deadlines and beyond office hours when required.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and tax accounting and compliance.
- Able to provide accurate analysis and highlight potential financial issue that might arise from the organisation(s)' daily business activities and operations.
- Keeping abreast with the latest developments in accounting and financial reporting matters including requirements of financial reporting standards and guidelines to enable effective advisory.
- Ability to establish relationships, networks and partnerships with stakeholders to ensure efficiency and cooperation at a higher level.
- Academic qualifications: A recognized degree in accounting with professional qualification (e.g. ACCA, MICPA, ICAEW).
- Experience: Prior experience in financial reporting & analysis, taxation, forecasting and budgeting would be an added advantage.
