Azets is an award-winning leading firm of Accountants and Business Advisors operating across the UK, Nordics and the USA. We are a family of over 6,500 employees and work across 100 offices in the UK alone. We have seen dramatic growth in recent years which has made us the 9th largest accountancy firm in the UK, and we are over the moon to have been awarded Accountancy Firm of the Year in the FD Excellence Survey 2020. As a result of this growth, we are now looking to invest in our skills set even further!

Our values are our motivations:

Our values are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for people who also believe in these drivers as we work together to achieve success for both our colleagues and our clients alike. As a business we believe we are stronger together. We share knowledge, ask for help and empower each other to achieve more collectively. We are open minded and value everyone’s contribution, embracing our differences and fostering a culture of trust and inclusion. We look for people who adapt quickly to change, finding smart ways to deliver the best results and remain one step ahead. Does that sound like you?

Requirements

To get the job that you’ll love

For us, the personal attributes of each of our employees are what makes us authentic in the marketplace. We look for people who can collaborate with peers but can also bring their own voice to the table. We want people who are dynamic in their approach and respectful of other people’s opinions. We are looking for someone who want to be more than just a team member, but who wants to join a family of likeminded individuals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join a busy corporate tax team dealing with some of Scotland’s leading companies. This team is one of the largest and most experienced in the central belt of Scotland. We are proud of our collaborative approach and the way we work together to solve our clients tax issues and meet their service needs. With responsibility for an interesting and technically demanding portfolio of large and complex corporate clients, the role is primarily focused on corporate tax work with a heavy emphasis on working very closely with our Audit team; dealing with groups of companies, preparing tax accounting disclosures and notes to the accounts. A key part of the role will be advising on tax payments and clients affected by the quarterly instalments regime. A solid knowledge of Alphatax (or OneSource) is preferred however training will be provided and the candidate should have a strong accounting background.

Ideally, you will be currently working as a Corporate Tax Senior and looking to take the next step in your career or already working as an Assistant Corporate Tax Manager with an eagerness to join a modern firm. A desire and passion to develop your ad-hoc tax advisory skills will be actively encouraged and supported by management and your wider team. Knowledge and experience of the R&D tax credits scheme is advantageous. Following our Azets Reach competency framework there is a clear pathway for further development with this role.

Our corporate tax client base includes a broad range of different businesses, however you will be largely working on dynamic, fast growing organisations, private equity backed and corporate entities / complex audit clients up to circa £2O0M plus turnover. You will be working with clients from all industries, therefore exposure to multiple sectors would be a distinct advantage. In addition, experience of managing a portfolio of clients with confidence is essential. Your day to day responsibilities will include- assisting with the preparation of complex group tax returns on Alphatax Enterprise Edition and on occasions, reviewing work prepared by junior members, liaising with clients to resolve queries, communicating with internal departments to ensure deadlines are met, and overseeing client portfolios to ensure HMRC deadlines are met.

In terms of qualifications, we want to ensure we are offering the best service to our customers. An accountancy qualification such as ATT, CTA, CA or ACCA (or be partly qualified) are essential for this role. We will offer study support for further qualifications if this is required.

A note from the Hiring Manager;

“This is an excellent and rare opportunity in the market for an ambitious tax candidate to join a busy and growing team. This position has strong scope for development and would be ideal for someone looking to progress to Manager in the future. Our client base is interesting and high profile therefore you will be able to get involved in both compliance and ad hoc advisory work.”
