FINANCE AND TAX ACCOUNTANT - FULL TIME, NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE/WASHINGTON, TYNE AND WEAR
END. is a global business, sourcing products from all around the world and generating significant sales overseas. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting END. manage it obligations and through working on projects to support the continued progression and growth of the company.
We are looking for candidates with tax experience gained in either an accounting firm or industry, with a working knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS or FRS102. Experience in areas of tax such as Corporate tax, Customs Duty, VAT/Sales Taxes would be advantageous. We are looking for a part-qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA), with a strong academic background and advanced Excel skills.
The role will work with a wide range of stakeholders, so you must be able to demonstrate confidence, strong communication skills, be well organised, be able to work to tight deadlines and support with moving projects forward to a successful conclusion.

What you'll be doing
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with UK corporate tax compliance - annual filing requirements and payments, including collating supporting information and highlighting opportunities including capital allowances and expenditure categories.
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts and tax disclosures and reporting.
- Assisting with tax relief claims, including R&D / capex projects.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to progress Customs Duty initiatives including Customs Warehouse and preference claims and ensuring smooth processes and workflows.
- Assisting with and helping mange filings and reconciliation processes for VAT, GST and Sales Tax returns
- General support for the senior finance team and Head of Tax on a range of projects.
- Assist and lead the further development of processes to support scalability.
What you'll be able to demonstrate
Skills and Experience:
- High calibre part-qualified, with at least 3 years' experience
- Significant experience of working in a tax or finance department with excellent transferable skills
- E-commerce / retail sector experience beneficial, but not a pre-requisite
- Ambitious, hardworking attitude
- Highly analytical, with the ability to manipulate and analyse high volumes of transactional data with ease
- Excellent IT skills, specifically advanced Excel & systems knowledge
- Excellent communication skills in order to liaise with stakeholders at all levels
- Commercial acumen and exposure to/ understanding of the global currency markets would be beneficial
- Exposure to ERP implementations would be advantageous
