We are currently working with a shipping company based in central London to find an Assistant Accountant for their expanding finance team.
Your responsibilities will include:-
• Daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations
• Work with superiors in developing a more structured expense policy enabling easier cost tracking and enforcing authorisation
• Accruals and Prepayments postings and reconciliations
• Reporting on KPI’s for operating units within the business
• Monthly payroll journal preparation and commissions calculations
• Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Assisting with budgeting and forecasting process
• Accurate and appropriate information to finance and non-finance people
• Process all purchase ledger transactions: producing and posting appropriate journals, accruals and prepayments
• Manage the petty cash tin and chequebook
• Process expenses, including company cards
• Work extensively on maintaining and developing the nominal ledger system
• Other ad-hoc duties as required
Your skills and qualifications:
• Part qualified and actively seeking to finish your exams
• Pay attention to detail
• Pro-active and flexible in approach with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills in order to meet strict reporting deadlines
• Have strong analytical skills
• Possess excellent problem solving ability and is a quick learner
• Demonstrate strong communications skills
• Have the ability to develop strong internal relationships
• Process driven and implements positive change
• Strong Excel skills and other office products
• Practical experience of several accounting systems
• Highly analytical and self-motivated to resolve problems
• Ambitious and highly professional
