Project Accountant

Job Overview The Project Accountant plays a critical role in the companys consolidation and accounting processes with a focus on accounting for the development of software applications and other capital related items. The role requires close coordination and communication with global controllership teams to effectively report on the companys core business processes. The ideal candidate will have 3 years of combined general ledger accounting, and project accounting/capitalization experience with a large global organization. Responsibilities and Duties Execution of month end close activities relating to project and capital accounting for global software development Prepare and record entries for accruals, global software development accounting, and other month end close activities Review and approve purchase orders and invoices to determine appropriate accounting treatment for capital items Maintain and review fixed asset and intangible asset subledger for global organization. Record monthly depreciation, reconcile subledgers to the general ledger, and prepare monthly rollforwards Maintain day to day activities regarding new lease accounting guidance under both IFRS and US GAAP Perform account reconciliations and fluctuation analysis for assigned areas Work cross-functionally between Global Controllership, Financial Reporting, Technology Finance, and Project Management Organization to ensure proper accounting treatment for companys software development projects in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP Perform and monitor internal labor capitalization for all subsidiaries and business units Provide back-up and support to other accounting and finance staff as needed Support quarterly review, annual audit efforts and SOX/internal control testing Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, participation in special projects, system enhancements, or ad hoc analyses as assigned Qualifications Must Haves BA or BS in Accounting or Finance 3 years of combined general ledger accounting, and project accounting/capitalization experience with a large global organization or public/private mix Ability to work overtime and effectively under tight time constraints as required at peak reporting periods and while other key transactions are being executed Preferred Public accounting experience and CPA/progress towards CPA very strong plus Strong excel skills desired (Pivot Tables, data analysis functions, etc.) Solid analytical and critical thinking skills a professional who can apply strong analytical skills to improve various aspects of the companys global accounting process Strong interpersonal skills a relationship builder with a professional, open and confident style who can build bridges and work effectively across a global organization and who possess strong communication skills (written and verbal) Proactive approach - someone who addresses each task with a sense of urgency and can generate a high volume of quality work products. Self-starting personality; ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously; the ability to work efficiently and seek help as necessary.
