Our partner is a recognised organisation working to offer greater safety to people in conflict- affected communities, and the opportunity to rebuild their lives, livelihoods and futures in the aftermath of war. They are seeking a Finance Business Partner to oversee the accounting & financial management and reporting of a portfolio of overseas programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the creation of country budgets & cashflow forecasts, and developing tool & processes for better budget management and reporting, and preparing budget vs,. actual analysis and commentaries.
  • Support the overseas programmes in meeting their grant reporting requirements, month-end closure of accounts, and preparing for donor and organisational audits.
  • Undertaking analysis on value for money on programmes, on leasing of assets to grants.
  • Assisting in reviewing and improving accounting & financial management controls of the overseas programmes, and ensuring that these are tax & regulatory compliant.
  • Training/mentoring overseas staff as required

Requirements

  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant with strong technical & MsExcel skills. Ability to lead on budget creation & monitoring and developing tools.
  • Analytical & financial modelling skills, able to critically review complex financial data
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrable experience of working effectively with finance and non-finance staff.
  • Flexible and open to travelling to the overseas programmes, some of which may be in or close to fragile states.

Previous experience in international development is not essential. The role is based in Scotland with around 6-8 weeks travel overseas. This is an excellent first role for someone looking to transition to the international development sector, and open to where they are based.
