The hands-on Head of Finance will take ownership of all month end tasks, internal controls and reporting, whilst also driving manufacturing and operational efficiencies.

Client Details

My client is a Wrexham-based medium-sized manufacturing business than has recently been acquired by an impressive corporate with an ambitious buy-and-build strategy. The business has a rich history as well as a strong brand and market share in their niche market. They now have the backing of a strong and cash-rich corporate which will allow them to invest in the business and look to execute a plan to double the turnover of the business in the next 2-3 years.

Description

The Head of Finance sits on the site leadership team and will act as a key support to the Managing Director. With a requirement to be both hands-on and strategic, the role will be varied and take ownership of all month end tasks, internal controls and reporting, whilst also driving manufacturing and operational efficiencies.

The key priorities for the Head of Finance in their first few months will be:

* Commercial - working with the operational managers in each site to develop a robust KPI framework to allow them access to the financial information that will optimise business performance and increase operational efficiency

* Financial control - establishing stronger financial controls within the company, including tidying up a legacy group structure, and readying the company for its first audit with new auditors

The role is supported by a management accountant and a small transactional finance team - all of whom are valued by the company and keen for development by the Head of Finance.

Profile

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant from any of the major industry bodies (ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA). You will have a strong background in both financial accounting and commercial finance, with at least some of this experience gained in a manufacturing environment. Interpersonally you will have strong influencing and communication skills, with the gravitas to influence cross functionally. You will also have the initiative, drive, energy and hunger to maximise both the immediate opportunity this role offers, as well as the career development joining the group will offer.

Job Offer

Financially, the role will offer a basic salary around the £60,000 mark, plus a car allowance of c.£5,000, a bonus of 10%, company pension and other benefits. My view is that whilst this is an attractive financial offer, the benefits of this role far outweigh the financials on offer. This represents a brilliant opportunity for the successful candidate to enjoy unrivalled career development, with the potential career journey from this role to either a bigger Head of Finance role, a Finance Director role or even a Managing Director role.
