Joining our Space, Defence & Intelligence (SDI) Business Unit your role will cover management of the sector P&L, project support, new business and commercial guidance, extensive business partnering, revenue recognition management, cash flow / balance sheet responsibility and management of a team. The role requires a motivated and driven finance professional with strong time management and prioritisation skills, attention to detail and the ability to explain financial accounting concepts to non-finance people via effective business partnering. The role will be based in Reading however there will be some travel to other CGI offices such as our office in Leatherhead. Your future duties and responsibilities Supporting various contracts, you will liaise closely with our SDI sub sector leads, covering all cost base and project accounting. You will report directly to the Finance Director and manage a team of Senior Finance Analysts and part qualified analysts, ensuring they are fully supported and ready to tackle each month-end. As the lead on the month-end process, you will ensure the project revenues are in accordance with the corporate revenue recognition policy as well as support the Finance Director on ad-hoc finance projects. Business partnering with Directors, project managers and key client stakeholders to maximise performance and advice on business impacts will be a key part of this role. Required qualifications to be successful in this role You will be fully qualified (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) and able to demonstrate experience of interacting directly with clients and non-finance personnel. You also should be able to show experience in reviewing accounts, identifying trends and working with the business to improve on these as necessary. Cost base accounting experience is required in this role, and you should have experience of reviewing a contract with a customer, understanding deliverables to the client and how this impacts how we can recognise revenue in the accounts. You should be an effective communicator both written and orally and have an analytical mind in order to understand the numbers. A good knowledge of Microsoft Excel particularly with IPT and CRU would be advantageous. Being able to manage your time is imperative in order to support both your team and the clients.
