The position below is open to citizens/residents of Trinidad & Tobago and Caricom skilled nationals of qualified Caribbean Community countries resident in Trinidad & Tobago. Job Summary JOB PURPOSE: To support financial decision-making information by collecting, analysing, investigating, and reporting financial data Duties and Responsibilities KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Provide strategic and advisory support to the Leadership team by: Engaging in financial planning Participating in the strategic planning process Building and maintaining strategic networks Prepare monthly financial statements by: Collecting data Analysing and investigating variances Summarising data and Identifying trends Manage the client's liquidity by: Effectively planning for anticipated expenses Transferring funds to suppliers in a timely manner Monitoring liquidity ratio Monitoring receivables Monitoring investments for repayments Monitor event triggers under the Liquidity Contingency Plan Making recommendations to convert longer-term assets to shorter term assets where possible Ensure the Company's statutory obligations are honoured by: Verifying corporation tax quarterly payments for accuracy Verifying accuracy of National Insurance Contributions Verifying accuracy of PAYE calculations Ensuring payments are submitted within required deadlines Maintains accounting controls by: Maintaining Chart of Accounts Preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Maintains financial security by: Maintaining Chart of Accounts Following internal controls. Verifying payment requests and disbursements and journal accounting entries Reviewing new legislation and accounting standards and setting up requirements. Responds to financial queries by: Gathering and analysing, summarising and interpreting data Assist with the timely completion of audits by: Verifying reconciliations on a monthly basis Providing information and supporting documentation as requested during internal and external audits . Enhance the capacity of your team by: Guiding, coaching and motivating team members in all aspects of their performance as the contribute to the efficient operation of the division Providing ongoing feedback to subordinates on their performance Identifying performance gaps and devising strategies to close same Maintains professional and technical knowledge by: Attending educational workshops Reviewing professional publications Establishing personal networks Participating in professional societies. Perform any related duties that may arise from time to time JOB SPECIFICATION: Level 3 ACCA/ other Accounting Qualification 5 years' progressive experience in the field of Accounting PERSON SPECIFICATION: Knowledge Sound knowledge of accounting procedures, principles and related legislation Thorough knowledge of financial system and their inter-relationships with departmental accounting operations. Strong mathematical and numerical competences Knowledge of spread-sheets and accounting database software Skills Excellent organisational skills Good oral and written communication skills Analytical thinking skills Decision-making skills Abilities Ability to manage time and workload efficiently Ability to meet tight deadlines. Initiative Ability to prepare a variety of complex and diverse financial statements and reports. Ability to maintain sustained attention to detail in checking and recording financial transactions. Ability to meticulously record transactions and be able to identify errors and trace them back to their source. Other Team player Strong sense of ethics WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in an air-conditioned office environment mostly from a seated position.
