IFRS Financial Accountant

Looking for your next challenging Public Sector contract role?

We are working with a leading Governement Body who are looking for an IFRS Financial Accountant. This is a 3–5 month contract in Central London, on a rate of GBP600.

Role:
* Production of statutory accounts for LCCC and ESC, ensuring compliance with IFRS and other reporting and regulatory requirement
* Act as the point of contact for our external auditors on any technical accounting matters and year end audit.
* Plan and organise the audit including production of timetable and instructions, communication of responsibilities and ensuring appropriate resources are in place.
* Consolidation packs for interim and year end reporting;
* Draw down and repayments of loan amounts;
* Lead the technical accounting review of Hinkley Point C (HPC) CFD in the light of IFRS and Conceptual Framework.
* Preparation of accounting position papers to support HPC's accounting treatment for Audit and Risk Committee and NAO.
* Partner with BEIS, NAO and external consultants (if required) to ensure that technical accounting conclusions of HPC, Generic CFD and Capacity Market are appropriately reflected in the Financial Statements.
* Develop and update Accounting policies in the light of the development of the business and changes to IFRS.

Key skills/experience:
* A fully qualified experienced accountant (e.g. ICAEW, ACCA etc.)
* Strong technical proficiency in IFRS and Conceptual Framework – in particular in relation to Financial Instruments and revenue recognition
* Ability to explain technical accounting concepts to a non–technical audience
* Experience of auditing or producing full IFRS year–end accounts
* Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience of analysing data from an ERP system
* Understanding of public sector reporting would be an advantage
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to establish relationships with a range of people across the business and outside to support delivery of business outcomes
* Be willing to be flexible, including setting up new processes and then to continually improve them
* Strong attention to detail
* Produce work on a timely basis while maintaining quality
